Hayawan is a dramedy series that takes you inside the mind of a Muslim American girl growing up in New Jersey in Post 9/11 America
Sophia conceived 'Hayawan' in 2020 and has been developing the story while sharing the journey online ever since. She is enthusiastic about writing from her own experiences and aims to shed light on the underrepresented stories of the MENA community, one of the most marginalized groups in the industry. Her inspiration for this story stems from the famous Martin Scorsese quote, "The most personal is the most creative." 'HAYAWAN' serves as a direct connection to Sophia's own experiences as a first-generation Muslim American, depicting what it was like growing up in both cultures surrounded by other immigrant groups in America.
